Obituary for Sherry Lee Smith Sherry Lee (Wiseman) Smith, 73, was born in Vincennes, IN to Jack and Marian Roberta (Muentzer) Wiseman on June 21, 1945. Sherry passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 26, 2018 after a long struggle with illness. Sherry was raised in Indianapolis, IN, graduated from North Central High School in 1963 and attended the University of Georgia and Indiana University. She moved back to Indianapolis, IN where she met and married D. Furman Smith. Sherry spent most of her life in West Lafayette, IN after relocating from Indianapolis in 1974. She was a homemaker and very involved with children, whether it was being a room mother, girl scout leader or volunteering countless hours at the elementary schools. She was very active during her life with the Girl Scouts, Weight Watchers as a counselor, Quilters Guild, Welcome Wagon, 4H horse shows and Psi Iotas. She was also extremely creative, loved cooking, quilting, reading, calligraphy, and painting. She always thought it was important to be a mother and grandmother first before anything else and this is what she considered her greatest accomplishment. Her laughter will be missed. She said if you are going to laugh, make sure the whole room can hear you. Sherry is survived by her husband D. Furman Smith; daughters Christina Wickes, Kimberly (Kevin) Doerflein, Carrie Smith; son Brandt (Laurie) Smith; twelve grandchildren, Riley Wickes, Reagan Wickes, Reece Wickes, Zachary Doerflein, Bradley Doerflein, Matthew Doerflein, Madeline Doerflein, Kelsie Smith, Kennedy Smith, Presleigh Smith, Erik Smith and Emiley Smith; brothers Eric Reuss and Robert Reuss. Visitation will be held at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette on November 1, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. A celebration of her life will be also held at the funeral home directly following the showing and a private family burial will follow later in Vincennes, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tippecanoe School Corporation Attn: Burnett Creek fundraiser, 5700 N 50 W, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
