Sarah Platt 1925 2018

Obituary for Sarah Platt Sarah Platt was born in Boston on February 27, 1925. She was the third daughter born to Otis and Bertha Myrick White. After her husband died in August 1925, Bertha had her three children baptized at the Church of All Nations. This became the family’s lifetime church. Sarah grew up in the wonderfully diverse neighborhood of Boston’s South End. She graduated from the High School of Practical Arts in 1942. The country was at war at this time and she was able to get a job as a power machine operator, making hats for the Coast Guard. During a brief wartime marriage, she gave birth a loving son, Ronald. Sarah was a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and worked for several years at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. But most of her work history involved sewing. She was an avid seamstress. In 1965, Sarah married Homer Platt, and a few years later, he joined Church of All Nations. Both were diligent church workers, serving on committees, teaching Sunday School, keeping church records, etc. While in good health, Sarah and Homer took annual road trips, cross country and to such places as Canada, and Mexico. Sarah had a deep love for nature and gardening, and made a hobby of studying the healing qualities of plants. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Homer, who went Home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2006. Also, her sisters Margaret Smith and Mary Green, her daughter-in-law Julie Jackson-Swift, and brothers-in-law Sidney T. Smith, Sr. and Esau Green; step -son Dennis Platt and step-daughter Neta Platt.
