Funeral services for Mr. Roy Lynward Powell, age 85, will be held at 11:00 A.M.,Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at New Home Baptist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Phil Wilson will officiate. Mr. Powell was born December 17, 1929 in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert Roy and Nellie Irene Sammons Powell. He is survived by his wife, Marthelle Blizzard Powell, a son, Roy S. (Teresa) Powell, two daughters, Sharon P. (Wayne) Ivey and Martha Lynn P. (Dean) Mosher all of Wrightsville, three brothers, Daley Powell, Wayne Powell both of Wrightsville and Harry Powell of Sautee-Nacoochee, Georgia, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2015 at the funeral home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
