Obituary for Raymond F. Odom Sr. Raymond “Ray”F. Odom Sr., 71, of Morris, passed away Monday October 1, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born July 8, 1947 in Morris, he was the son of the late Glenn and Myrtle (Brooks) Odom. Ray was a graduate of Morris High School, Class of 1965. He joined the Air Force in 1968 and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He married Jill Neary on January 19, 1973. He worked as an Operator Engineer for many years, Tri State Asphalt Plant as a supervisor, he was also a Deputy Sheriff with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and a car salesman for Boren Ford. He was a Hot Rod car enthusiast and liked doing research and finding cars for others. His true love was his family and he enjoyed playing Mr. Fix-It for his grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and was proud of shooting 2 holes in 1. He also enjoyed singing karaoke. Ray is survived by his wife Jill; children Raeanne (Stephen) Tyte of Springfield, Missouri, Ray Odom Jr. of Morris and Ed (Tephany) Odom of Morris; grandchildren Jonathan (Katie) Tyte, Raine, Reagan, Ellarae and John Macrae Odom, Brady Babington and Easton Odom; great grandchild Owen Tyte; siblings Glenn Jr.“Butch” (Sharon) Odom and Patti (Richard) Mickelson; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna McKay. A visitation for Ray will be held on Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, located in Morris. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 10:30 am at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Steve Larson of the First Baptist Church in Morris. Burial will follow at Sample Cemetery with Military Honor’s by the Morris Color Guard. Memorials may be made in Ray’s name to a hospice home of donor’s choice or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
