Obituary of Ralph Scroggins Ralph Earl Scroggins, age 90 of Jacksonville, IL passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018. Ralph was born on August 4, 1928 in Palmyra, IL in Macoupin County to parents Marion Earl Scroggins and Georgia Faye (Crawford) Scroggins. Ralph was raised in the Palmyra area and graduated from Girard High School in 1946. He was inducted into the Army in 1951 and served in the Panama Canal Zone until his discharge in 1952. Ralph moved to Jacksonville, IL after discharge and worked at Mrs. Tuckers followed by employment as a business manager at the Jacksonville State Hospital until his retirement in 1990. Ralph met his wife, Donna (Schone) Scroggins in 1962 while both were employed at the State Hospital. They were married May 26, 1962 and celebrated 56 years of marriage in May 2018. Ralph is survived by his wife Donna of Jacksonville, IL and their two children: Brenda (Barry) Hughes of Muscatine, IA and Brett (Colleen) Scroggins of Hebron, IL. Ralph and Donna are also proud grandparents of grandchildren Jacob (Jessica) Scroggins of Phoenix, AZ, Aemilia Scroggins of Flagstaff, AZ, Justin Hughes of Muscatine, IA, Jonathon Hughes of Muscatine, IA. And Thomas Baldwin, Patrick Baldwin, Morgan Baldwin, and Madison Baldwin, all of Hebron, IL. Ralph is also survived by his brother, Kent Scroggins of Palatka, FL. Ralph served the Jacksonville community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the South Jacksonville Fire Department and was happy to serve in several leadership positions as a member of the Jacksonville Sportsman’s Club. Ralph was also a member of the American Legion. Ralph and Donna have been members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville for many years. He served his church community in a variety of ways, big and small. He also enjoyed competing at bowling and horseshoe pitching and sharing his love of fishing, boating, and hunting with his children. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Jacksonville Sportsman’s Club.
