Odette L. Rice, 98, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018. She was born October 11, 1920, in Lagne, France, the daughter of Henry and Alphonise (Mea) DePiazz. Odette married Jack Rice, April 26, 1947 in France. She came to the United States in 1947 and become a proud U.S. citizen in 1951. Odette and her husband moved to Rockford in 1965 so that her husband could work at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere. She was an orderly person and enjoyed managing the household. Odette… Read More » was active in the church and various charities dear to her. Survived by beloved friends in Rockford; many nieces, nephews and family in France. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Jack and a sister in France. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford, IL 61107. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Friday, October 26, 2018 at the church. Interment will be Monday, October 29, 2018 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E Waterloo Rd, Akron, OH 44319. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be dispersed to Odette’s favorite charities.
