Nola Jean (Badger) (Bakke) Glanzer passed away on October 1, 2018, at home in West Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for over 14 years of which she often said she was so thankful for each day the Good Lord gave her to spend with grandchildren, family and friends. Nola was born on July 23, 1951, in Valley City, ND, to Kenneth and Evangeline (Wisted) Badger. She graduated from Hope High School and briefly attended Wahpeton State School of Science. She was married to Kenneth M. Bakke from 1970 to 1991. They lived in Fargo, ND and raised two children; Michelle and Michael. In 2004, Nola married Arden R. Glanzer and they resided in West Fargo, ND. It was at this time that Nola gained another daughter, Susan, and two more grandsons; Mac and Jack. Nola entered the business world in 1970 and worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota for over thirty-two years as an administrative assistant. Following retirement, she worked part-time at the Fargo Dome; Carol Widman’s Candy Company; Knowlton, O’Neill & Associates; and Carita R. Shawchuck, Ph.D. Nola loved reading, sewing, gardening and visiting with family and friends. Her main love, however, was being a grandmother and traveling to see her grandchildren. She loved playing board games with them, attending their sports and school activities, watching TV and helping them bake especially around the holidays. Nola is survived by her husband Arden; children Michelle (Timothy) Bush, Roswell, GA; Michael (Erica) Bakke, Fargo, ND; Susan Christl Rau, Moorhead, MN; and grandchildren Bennett and Layton Bush, Roswell, GA; Mac Christl, Dillon, CO; and Jack Christl, Moorhead, MN. She is also survived by her mother Evangeline Badger, Valley City, ND; sisters Eileen Sweeten, West Fargo, ND; June (Michael) Howe, Litchville, ND; brothers Edger “Bud” (Lois) Badger, Casselton, ND; Harmon (Laurel) Badger, Grand Forks, ND; Kevin (Gail) Badger, Colorado Springs, CO; nephew Dennis Oftelie, Valley City, ND; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends too numerous to mention. She loved you all. Nola was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, sister Karen Oftelie; brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Geraldine Badger; niece Sherry Oftelie; brothers-in-law Larry “Pete” Eberle and Carl Sweeten. May God bless the memory of Nola Glanzer, beloved “wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend” to many. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Denise Snow, the nursing staff at Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, Core Health Services in Bismarck, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and Pastor Jahnke of St Andrew Church. Thanks also to the “Sisters of Hope” her longtime classmates from high school and the “Blues Girls Lunch Group” from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota who provided friendship and emotional support throughout the years.
