Obituary for Nancy Rhodes Nancy Joan (Caldwell) Rhodes, age 71, of Brookville, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family on October 25, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born on November 7, 1946 to the late Blaine Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Caldwell in Brookville, PA. Nancy graduated from Brookville Area High School in the class of 1964. On July 1, 1967 she married her husband James Allan Rhodes in Brookville, PA, he survives. She worked for the Planning Commission for six years, the Sheriff’s Department for two years, and the District Attorney’s office for sixteen years. Nancy was an elder and deacon at the Brookville Presbyterian Church. She also served as a board member for the Western PA Cares for Kids. She was a very caring, kind, and compassionate person to everyone she met. Nancy would put others first before herself. She was a loving wife, incredible mother, and devoted grandmother. She was known as Meme to her grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. She enjoyed being a part of volunteer work for the Presbyterian Church. Nancy had an extreme talent for interior design which was instrumental in creating a warm, friendly, and loving home for the children at the Cares for Kids house. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Julie L. Rhodes of Glenshaw, PA, and Jodi L. (Ryan H.) Bruner of Glenshaw, PA; two granddaughters; Ryleigh Lyn Bruner, and Lexi Blayne Bruner; three sisters; Barbara H. Ferringer, Patricia C. Ellis, and Donna J. Ging. In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by two nephews; Jeffrey Ferringer, and Colin Ging; one niece; Susan Ging; and one brother-in-law Donald Ferringer. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 1 – 8 pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Brookville Presbyterian Church, 100 S White St, Brookville, PA 15825 beginning at 11:00 am and officiated by the Reverends Nathan Royster and Melinda Hall. Interment will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Brookville Presbyterian Church or to the Western PA Cares for Kids.
