Melvin James Engelbrecht 1929 2018

Obituary of Melvin Engelbrecht Melvin James Engelbrecht was born on April 23, 1929, at South Branch near St. James, MN, the son of Frank and Elsie (Meyer) Engelbrecht. He attended school at South Branch. Melvin was united in marriage to Dona Nelson on July 18, 1953. They worked at Tony Downs and farmed on the family farm until 1974. Moving to St. James in 1974 worked for the High School and Sherr-Tumico until retirement in 1997. He took great pride in taking care of his home and enjoyed gardening and working in his garage. Melvin died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the age of 89 years at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home in St. James. He is survived by his children – Connie (Greg) Bixby of South Bloomfield, OH, Scott Engelbrecht of St. James, MN, and Lisa (Lowell) Petty of Eyota, MN; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister – Lois (LaVerne) Thompson of St. James, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Dona; a daughter in infancy – Caroline; daughter-in-law – Joyce Engelbrecht; and sister and brother-in-law – Elaine (Arnold) Coleman.
