Maxine B. Freeman, 93, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, joined her husband, William Freeman; parents, Lillian and Evan Buttrum and brother, Norman Buttrum in eternal rest on October 20, 2018. She is survived by her sister, Jane Ashworth, her children: David Freeman (Patricia) and Alisa Freeman; grandchildren: Benjamin Freeman (Sharon), Justin Freeman (Tammy), Nathan Freeman (Leila), and Melissa Carr, and five great-grandchildren. A member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant,… Read More » Maxine facilitated a nursing home ministry at Sandpiper for over twenty five years, after retiring from Wild Dunes. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and taught Sunday School lessons. All services will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home 1520 Rifle Range Rd, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday October 24, 2018, to be followed by graveside interment at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted, as will donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and Lutheran Hospice of Charleston. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted to www.mcalister-smith.com.
