Max Rynearson, 92, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at his home. The son of George and Edith (Rickey) Rynearson, Max was born on Nov. 29, 1925, and lived most of his life in Indianapolis and Westfield, Indiana, where he was a farmer, attorney, bluegrass music promoter and active member of the community. Max enlisted in the Air Force as a B-29 tail gunner on March 2, 1944, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, and participated in both WWII and the Korean War. His military career was highlighted by surviving a B-29 crash on Iwo Jima during WWII. After the Korean War he earned a law degree — Juris Doctor (J.D.) — from Indiana University in 1956 and practiced law in Indianapolis for the next 50 years, retiring in 2006. Max is survived by his loving wife Anna of 47 years; daughters, Janice Kruger and Tina (Bill) Castro; sons Col. Jeff (Isela) Rynearson and Brad (Kelly) Rynearson; grandchildren, Kellee (Bruce) Ablard, Jason Kruger, Meghan Kruger, SPC Dylan Castro and Case Rynearson; great-grandchildren, Alexa Ablard, Sam Ablard and Cate Ablard; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with Chaplain Kevin Carr officiating. Burial will take place in Corunna Cemetery in Corunna. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
