Mary Ann Platts , 65, of Milwaukee, WI, found peace Thursday afternoon (Sept. 13, 2018) surrounded by her family and those she loved. Born April 25, 1953, she was the third daughter and fifth child of Frank and Andree (Eliet) Platts of Twin Lakes, WI. She spent her childhood and young adult life sharing happy memories with her siblings, family, and good friends. She attended Wilmot Union High School and went on to pursue her love of the English language at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1977. As someone who lived her life in the service of others, Mary Ann often volunteered her time to the Milwaukee Friends Meeting of Quakers and Twin Lakes American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 544. She was an avid baker, lover of film and literature, and world traveler. Above all, she possessed a fervent goodwill and passion for helping those around her. She is survived by her son, Graham; her caregiver and niece, Yvette Livingston; three sisters Naoma (Robert) Livingston, Alice (Joe) Shuping, Juanita (Mark) Schittina; two brothers Harry “Pete” (Arlene) and Frank (Patricia); and her many nieces and nephews, whom she cared for and adored. We wish to thank those in particular who made the trip to Mayo Clinic Rochester Methodist Hospital to offer their love & support including Pastor Connie McCallister, Paul Henning, and Bernhard Verhoeven. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 11am to 12 noon at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home, 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes, WI. Interment at Mound Prairie Cemetery will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Mary Ann will accepted to The Mayo Clinic for the Center of Regenerative Medicine.
