OBITUARY Maria Guadalupe Herrera December 31, 1944 – October 2, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Maria Guadalupe Herrera, age 73, of Arlington, Texas passed away on Tuesday October 2, 2018. Maria was born December 31, 1944 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico to Roberto and Manuela Avalos. Maria married Carlos Herrera in the 1970s and moved her family to Chicago, IL in 1976. In 1989 they moved to Texas. She was a dedicated mother and wife. While living in Mexico she was book keeper, in Chicago she was a beautician and in Texas was in the food service industry for 18 years. Maria Guadalupe Herrera, mother to Carlos Herrera & Roberto Herrera, has been battling cancer for two years. This last year however, she was able to gain her strength to be able to go back to church and participate with the church choir, among other activities she loved; spending time with her grandson, mall walking and bike riding. Maria Guadalupe Herrera has participated with numerous choirs throughout her life within the Diocese of Chicago, Dallas and Fort Worth. In August of 2018, a new tumor in her abdomen manifested itself and was inoperable and therefore, the family had to then consider a palliative care option through hospice care. On October 2, 2018, she took her final breathe and made a peaceful transition. Maria Guadalupe Herrera, madre de Carlos y Roberto Herrera, estuvo padeciendo de cáncer por los dos últimos años, sin embargo, este último año obtuvo las fuerzas necesarias y pudo integrarse nuevamente a la comunidad parroquial regresando al coro y realizando diferentes actividades, como lo son; dedicándole tiempo a su nieto, dar sus recorridos por el centro comercial del ‘Parks’ en Arlington para poder caminar y pasear en bicicleta. Maria Guadalupe Herrera ha participado con numerosos coros a lo largo de su vida en parroquias tanto en la Diócesis de Chicago, Dallas, y Fort Worth. En Agosto del 2018 un nuevo tumor se manifestó y fue inoperable por lo cual la familia tuvo que considerar un cuidado paliativo y optó por un cuidado de hospicio. El 2 de Octubre la Sra. Herrera dió su último suspiro y obtuvo una transición pacífica. Visitation for Maria will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd,, Arlington, TX 76017. Funeral service will occur Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76017. Graveside service will occur Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
