Obituary for Margie Harvey HARVEY, Margie, age 81, of Sacramento, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 alongside her husband Jerry at Bruceville Terrace skilled nursing facility. Margie was born in Washington but enjoyed most of her childhood in Arizona. She was married there and started a family. With four young children in tow, they moved to California where she stayed the rest of her life, almost sixty years. Margie was a caregiver. In fact that may have been her calling in life. It started in her teens caring for her ailing mother. As a young adult and new mom herself, she cared for her kids and any other children who happened to wander into her home. When her daughter Mary Ann was born in 1960 with Down Syndrome, Margie’s caregiving heart went into overdrive. Margie was with Mary Ann until her final day at age 48. As the strength and often sole support for five children, Margie also had some fun work experiences being a caterer, florist and card dealer. Her legacy will live on with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and the many, many friends who also called her Mom. Margie is survived by sisters Deloris Smith and June Meredith, her children Carolee (and David) Schreibman, Sonny (and Debbie) Johnstone, Mark (and Tracy) Johnstone, and Michael (and Lanita) Johnstone, sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She doted on every single one. Memorial will be at 1PM Saturday, July 14 at Herberger Family Elk Grove Funeral Chapel – 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove. A dessert reception will follow next door.
