CROGHAN-Lloyd E. Zehr, 71, of Texas Road, passed peacefully during the early hours of Saturday, October 13, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Naumburg Mennonite Church with Jack Bushey, Pastor of New Life Fellowship, Beaver Falls, officiating. Calling hours are from 2– 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the church. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory in lieu of flowers to Caring Friends of the Community, 11037 State Route 812, Croghan, NY 13327 or Mennonite Disaster Service, in C/O Lois Zehr, 6595 East Road Ext., Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane; his children, Jeffrey and Michelle Zehr of Castorland; Greg and Samantha Zehr of Croghan; Sandra and Ryan Kreider of Kirkwood, PA; Christy and Wayne Spencer of Croghan; ten grandchildren, Jacob Zehr, Phillip Kreider, Eliana Kreider, Amanda Zehr, Andrew Zehr, Corban Kreider, Derrick Zehr, Tyler Zehr, Willard Spencer, Vera Spencer; his siblings, Pearl Zehr of Lowville, Alvin Zehr Jr. and his wife Irene; Adeline Knechtel of Mannsville, Eunice Gingerich of Lowville, Paul and Mary Zehr of Lititz, PA, Elizabeth and Roger Crassi of Clarence, NY, LeEtta and Albert Owens of Castorland, Lena Zehr of Lancaster, PA, Vera and Stan Ferguson of Cincinatti, OH, Mary and Maurice Graves of Castorland, Art and Jeanette Zehr of Illinois, David and Mary Zehr of Brewerton; a brother-in-law, Merle Roggie; sisters-in-law, Belva Zehr, Eileen Zehr, Pauline Zehr and Elma Zehr Ebersole; an uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a son Scott P. Zehr; two sisters, Ellen Martin Widrick, Beulah Roggie; four brothers, Richard, Kenneth, Mark and Joseph Zehr. Lloyd was born on August 4, 1947 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Alvin and Vera Moser Zehr and attended country school in Indian River and Beaver River Central School. He worked in the woods for his father. On March 31, 1967, he married Jane A. Waugh at Croghan Mennonite Church with his brother, Rev. Richard Zehr officiating. He then worked for Niles Farney Sr. at Farney Lumber Saw Mill in Lowville for four years. Since then, he has worked as a self-employed logger. Lloyd feels that he was the luckiest man to be able to work alongside his boys and grandchildren. Together with his family, he was a lifelong sugar maker. In 2006, Lloyd had the honor of being the Grand Marshall at the New York State Woodmen’s Field Days Parade in Boonville. He was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Giants. He enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors, and following his grandchildren’s activities.Condolences may be shared online at www.isenekerfuneralhome.com .
