Kathy Lynn (Baker) Bangma, 64, of Uxbridge passed away on October 1 at home following a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of Leonard W. Bangma for 37 years. Kathy was born in 1953 in Whitinsville, the daughter of Gilbert J. and Catherine (Haringa) Baker. She graduated from Whitinsville Christian School and Northbridge High School, attended Dordt College in Iowa for 2 years, and received her B.S.N. from Fitchburg State College. Kathy was the bookkeeper for Bangma’s Dairy Farm while her husband was the owner, and worked for many years in the farm stand at Foppema’s Farm. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, baking, making jigsaw puzzles, and watching the waves at the ocean. She was a life-long member of Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville. She is survived by her sisters Betty (and Marvin) Kuipers of South Hadley, MA, Cynthia Baker of Northborough, MA, and Noreen (and Jim) Kuipers of Ada, MI. She leaves her daughter Katelyn Bangma of Grand Rapids, MI, son Michael (and Annika) Bangma of Whitinsville, son Timothy (and Skyler) Bangma of Lowell, MI, two precious grandchildren, Grayden and Elise, and several nieces and nephews. Kathy appreciated the exceptional medical care provided by Dr. Sarah Hughes and her oncology team, all the chemo nurses (especially Nancy and Beth), and the hospice nurses. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 4-8 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Providence Rd., Rte. 122, Northbridge.
