OBITUARY Julia M. Haggarty February 8, 1932 – October 25, 2018 Julia Mary Haggarty (nee Walsh), a resident of Sparkill, NY passed away on October 25th 2018, she was 86 years old. Born in the Bronx, NY on February 8th to James and Anna Walsh (nee McCarthy), both from County Cork, Ireland. Julia graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, NY and Phelps Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Tarrytown, NY. She was employed by New York Life Insurance, Co., The Hanover Bank, Nyack Hospital for 20 years and Nyack Manor Nursing home for 9 years. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 50 years, Michael, a New York City Police Officer; also predeceased by her brother James Walsh and brothers in law Jerry Haggerty and Charles Howlett. She is survived by her children, Michael Gerard, Brian, John and his wife Marion, Maureen Spath and her husband Michael, her six grandchildren, Ashley Watkins, and her husband Lenny, Brian, Colleen, and her husband Daniel Rubert-Sanchez, Christopher, Patrick and Bridget Haggarty and her great grandchildren Savannah, Hailey and Payton Watkins; as well as many devoted nieces and nephews. Julia was a loving sister to Lucille Howlett of Neptune, NJ and Ann Coberg and her husband John of Chestertown, NY, sisters in law Helen Walsh of Poughkeepsie, NY and Kathleen Haggerty of Congers, NY. She was a long time member of St. Paul’s Parish in Congers, NY, the Congers and Nyack Seniors and the Congers/Valley Cottage Ambulance Homemakers. Visiting will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY on Sunday, October 28 from 1pm to 5pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Congers, Monday, October 29 at 10am. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or the Congers/Valley Cottage Ambulance Corp.
