John Joseph Kohler March 1 1934 October 22 2018 (age 84)

John Joseph Kohler, 84, of Florence, passed away October 22, 2018 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehab Center. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and B.P.O.E. 820. Mr. Kohler was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie (Marcus) Vincent; and parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lance Kohler; sons, David (Theresa) and Daniel (Julie) Kohler; and grandchildren, Hannah Kohler, Dylan Kohler Mackenzie McGee, Morgan Vincent, and Trey Kohler. John was a polio survivor and walked on crutches from the age of seven. He earned a BS in Chemistry from La Salle University and an MS in Chemistry from Purdue University. John worked for TVA’s National Fertilizer Development Center until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Kohler was an active member of the Florence Elks Lodge serving as Exalted Ruler, Secretary and Trustee. He spent countless hours supporting the Elks Americanism Essay Contest and preparing the Lodge Bulletin.
