James “Ken” Baker, 73, of Bella Vista , AR passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home. He was born August 23, 1945 in New Albany , Mississippi to Johnnie Welborn and Venera Ometra Gordon Baker. Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and respected his flag dearly. He loved God and his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends, but most of all, he cherished the times he would spend dancing with his beautiful wife of almost thirty years. Ken wrote wonderful stories and painted beautiful paintings, he was truly a gentle soul. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, loving husband and especially, as a diehard Mississippi State “Bulldawg”. Ken was loved, respected and admired by many people. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Johnnie Baker, Jr. Ken is survived by his wife, Magda; daughter, Shae Baker Hammond; three step-children, Chris Jr., Jason and Anna; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of cousins. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30AM , Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Mildred B. Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista , AR. Memorials may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation, michaeljfox.org.
