OBITUARY Helen Kershaw November 3, 1936 – October 22, 2018 Helen Touchet Kershaw, 81, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018. Helen has been a resident of Hackberry for over 55 years. Helen was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Hackberry, serving with the Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters of America. Helen made a Cursillo in 1985. She loved playing bingo, dancing, French Music, sewing, and enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her children: Audrey Vincent (Dennis) of Youngsville, LA; John Abshire Jr; Jacque Abshire (Diana); and Jacob Abshire, all of Sulphur; Anita Abshire (Kyle Blackmon) of Carlyss; Jessie T. Abshire (Belinda), and Lucy Ann Kershaw of Hackberry; daughter in law and special caregiver, Ada Mae Kershaw of Hackberry; step daughter Elaine Lacombe of Opelousas; a brother, Adam Touchette of Sulphur; a sister, Wilda East of Hackberry; and numerous grandchildren and great grand children. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alcee Paul Kershaw; two sons, James Adam Abshire & Jordan Paul Abshire; her mother, Lucy Touchet; two sisters, Lorena Holden and Wilma Cain; one grandson, Jeremy James Abshire; and one stepson Melvin Kershaw. Visitation will be held at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 4-9pm; Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 9am-9pm. A Cursillo Rosary will be held at 7pm on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, October 26, 2018. Burial will follow in the New Hackberry Cemetery.
