Gloria Jean Gibson 2018

Gloria Jean Gibson, 75, went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2018. Born in Burlington, VT, she graduated from Burlington High School in 1961 and attended the University of Vermont. She enjoyed working for WJOY radio during these years and decided a career in radio was for her. Gloria’s first job was at WPTR in Albany, NY and from there WWDC in Washington DC, Boston Red Sox radio, and finally WNBC in NYC. She crossed paths with many celebrities.. Wolfman Jack, Imus In The Morning, Cousin Brucie, Ethel Kennedy (with the startup of Special, Olympics), Ted Williams, John Denver, the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox teams and Martin Luther King when he did his I Have A Dream speech in Washington DC.. to name a few. Retiring from her radio career, Gloria returned to Burlington where she ran the Little House Antiques on Shelburne Road. Active in the Catholic Church, Gloria was offered the position of Communications Director for the Catholic Diocese of Burlington. She was the first lay person to have this position as well as the first woman. She worked for the Bishops Marshal, Angel, and Matano during this period, receiving awards for her writings. She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Irene Gibson, brother Daniel Gibson and niece Melinda Saxon. She leaves her sister June Gibson Lee, sister-in-law Maria Short, nieces and nephews Mike and Jennifer Lee, Patrick and Justin Lee, Suzanne Lee, Michelle and Layne Ballard, Christopher and Carrie Lee and Connor Gibson, Also great nephews and nieces, Jason and Nicole Lee, Jamie and Chad LaPlante, Jennifer and Chris Archer, Kathryn and Jonathon Kuykendall, Bryce Ballard and Matthew Washburn….great great nephew Landon Kuykendall and great great niece Lennix LaPlante…. as well as cousins from the Lawrence/Augustino family and lifelong friends Linda Dragon and Kathy Dutra.
