George Ray Raymond Baird November 19 1927 October 7 2018 (age 90)

George “Ray” Raymond Baird, 90, of Vandergrift, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Apollo. He was born Saturday, November 19, 1927 in Scottdale, Pa., the son of the late Glenn W. and Virginia S. Smouse Baird. Before his retirement, he was employed with Urban Works as a mill clerk. He was a United States Naval Veteran having served during World War II on the USS Juneau II, where he got to meet the Pope. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved gardening, riding motorcycles across the country, spending time with his neighbors and friends and especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by 2 children, Pam Baird of Oklahoma Boro and Penney Baird of Leechburg, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4PM to 8PM in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTD., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, Pa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 in the funeral home at 11AM with Pastor Sara J. Wrona, officiating. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Apollo, Pa. with full military honors.
