Obituary for George Ellis George Lee Ellis, 83, of Independence, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 29, 2018. George was born July 29, 1935, to George A. and Cora Emma Ellis in Fulton County, AR. George worked for the Independence Water Department for over 30 years and was an avid fisherman, but his most loved role was as “Big Papa” to his grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norma; sister, Vera Bek and brother, Billie D. Ellis. He is survived by his daughter, Mary “Gail” Cook (David) of Independence; granddaughter, Stephanie Hayes of Independence, grandson, Jason Cook (Beth) of Kansas City, MO; and his great grandchildren, Eric, Evan Ethan, Nolan, Emma and Bruce. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
