Frances Theresa Flider, 83, of Mattoon, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center with her family be her side. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 320 North 21st Street, Mattoon, IL 61938. Visitation will be at the church at 9:00 a.m. an hour before the Mass. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Divine Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 1601 Newcastle… Read More » Avenue, Westchester, IL 60154. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family. Frances was born December 1, 1934 in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Krbec) Lysak. She married Frank S. Flider on February 6, 1954. He preceded her in death in 2004. Surviving are sons Frank (Diane) of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert (Jean) of Decatur; and daughter Jeanine Decker of Mattoon; grandchildren Julie (Dan) Ennist; Mark Flider; Kylee (Bryan) Roney; Kristan Kelleher; Lucas (Kourtney) Flider; and Kaitlyn (Thomas) Morgan; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lillian Chalupa and Josephine Gayda. Frances was a proud member of Czech Moravian heritage groups, including. She wrote children’s holiday plays in Czech. She also served as queen of United Moravian Societies in 1953. She also volunteered for a number of charities and programs, including Immaculate Conception Church and the Mattoon youth golf program. Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Mattoon or the American Cancer Society.
