Evelyn C. Shearer, age 92 of Concord, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born Wednesday, March 3, 1926 in East Waterford, the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Minnie B. (Love) Clark. Evelyn graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1945. Before she was married, she had worked as a switch board operator at Wilson College. After marrying her husband, Merle F. Shearer on June 23, 1951, she stayed home to raise her three daughters. She was a member… Read More » of Concord United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer and a teacher of the church Sunday School. She was also treasurer for the Concord Union Cemetery. She volunteered with the Fannett-Metal Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary at the Path Valley Picnic. She served on the Fannett Township Board of Elections for Concord/Doylesburg for at least 50 years. She enjoyed working her gardens, both floral and vegetable. She loved to watch the wildlife, especially the turkeys, deer and birds. She did a lot of canning and freezing. Taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was very important to her. She loved to read her Bible and her daily devotions. She also read many children’s books to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Merle F. Shearer passed away September 12, 1991. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra J. and husband Ken Lynch of The Villages, FL, Cindy S. and husband Michael Ligman of McMurray, Ruth S. and husband John Mitchell of Blair Mills, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton and Harry Clark. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 19 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Karen P. Willis and Pastor Becky Cutshall officiating. Interment will be in Concord Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
