Funeral services for Mrs. Elouise Douglas Gay, age 90, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. C.W. Mullis will officiate. Mrs. Gay was born March 7, 1925 in Mulberry, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Reason Monroe Douglas and Joean Thompson Douglas, her husband, Carrel Claxton “Monk” Gay, two grandchildren, Daniel Douglas “Dan” Gay and Cindy Bailey, a brother,… Read More » Billy Douglas and two sisters, Mildred Robinson and Candacy Jean Coniglio. She was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church where she attended the Joy Sunday School class. She was formerly employed by the Laurens County Board of Education as a bus driver and she was also a homemaker. Mrs. Gay passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015. She is survived by her sons, William Buddy (Barbara) Gay and Douglas Carrel “Doug” (Saundra) Gay all of Dublin, a brother, Cecil (Edye) Douglas of Cullman, Alabama, two sisters, Shirley Ann (Ralph) Meeks of Bartow, Florida and Martha Ruth Freeman of Brandon, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. until funeral hour Friday, March 20, 2015 at the funeral home. The family may also be contacted at the residence of Doug and Saundra Gay, 1115 Achord Road, Dublin, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Mike Gay, Don Gay, Josh Gay, Walt Bailey, Roger Gay, Adam Gay and Ben Gay. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions, in memory of Mrs. Gay, to The Lighthouse, Advocates for Alzheimer’s, P.O. Box 344, Dublin, Georgia 31040 Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
