Funeral Services for Edward Eugene “Gene” Barbo, age 92, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, will be held Friday, October 5, 2018, at 12:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Gene was a devoted Shriner, working tirelessly for the Crippled Children. He was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Barbo and Zelia Barbo; his step daughter, Amy Fortenberry Johnson; and 9 brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Thompson Barbo; his daughter, Jeanne Barbo; his step son, Kenny (Peggy) Fortenberry; 2 grandchildren, Paul Fortenberry and Kristy (Justin) Ethridge; 4 great grandchildren, Landon Fortenberry, Harlee Fortenberry, Ava Ethridge, and Lillian Ethridge; his sister, Lois Vige; his sister-in-law, Brownie Barbo; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children Hospitals.
