Obituary for Doris Ann Ely Doris Ann Jones Ely, 81, of Jonesville, VA, was born August 17, 1937 in Pennington Gap, VA and left this life on October 27, 2018 at Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pennington Gap, VA. She grew up in Ben Hur, VA and attended Corinth Baptist Church where she received the Lord as her Savior at a young age. She was a self-taught pianist and singer and sang at numerous churches throughout the area. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pennington Gap and sang in the choir in earlier years. She had also enjoyed being a “Pink Lady” volunteer at Lee County Community Hospital in the 1980’s. Doris was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, General Grant Jones and Myrtle Carnes Jones; her sisters, Ella Poteet and Anna Nickel; an infant brother, Vernon; a half-brother, Hubert Jones; a half-sister, Marie Jones Whitfield and her daughter, Rebecca Ruth Ely. She is survived by a son, Audy (JoAnn) Ely of Winchester, KY; daughters, Tressea (Bob) Roberts of Morgantown, WV, Judy (Doug) Flintrup of Knoxville, TN and Regina (Larry) Carter of Lynnville, TN; five grandchildren, Bobby and Becky Roberts, Evan Ely, Taylor Flintrip and Austin Bennett; two great-grandsons, Liam Dykes and Miles Ely. A private service will be conducted at Robinette Funeral Home with burial following at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA.
