Obituary for Donald A. James Donald A. James, age 70 of Wood River, IL, died Monday, October 01, 2018, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born on Friday, August 13, 1948, in Hammond, IN, the son of Clarence and Elsie (nee Brooks) James. Born at Hammond, IN, grew up at Albuquerque, NM and Wood River, IL. He served with the US Army, active duty during the Vietnam War, from 1966 to 1969. He worked for Olin Corp., Alton, IL and Mike’s Incorporated, Roxanna, IL. He enjoyed wood working. Survivors include: Son – Donald Paul (significant other-Elizabeth Holt) James, Alton, IL Brother – Robert “Bob” (LaVeeda E.) James, Jerseyville, IL Sister – Janice L. (Leo C.) Welch, Worden, IL Grandchild – Desteny James Grandchild – Donald James Grandchild – Kaylah James Grandchild – Dakota James. He was preceded in death by: Father – Clarence Donald James Mother – Elsie Violet James, nee Brooks. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Graveside Service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, is pending. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Health Care Center-Activity Department.
