Obituary for Donald A. “Doc” Dockweiler Donald A. “Doc” Dockweiler, 79, of Central City, died on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at his home in Central City. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Heartland Evangelical Free Church in Central City with Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Eldon Elsberry officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 31st from 5-7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Interment will be at the Central City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be designated to Nebraska Christian Schools or Heartland Evangelical Free Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Donald Arthur was born on March 19, 1939 in Fremont, to Lloyd Arthur and Fern (Lacey) Dockweiler. Doc grew up in the Fremont area on his family farm until his mid-teens. Then the family moved to the Sumner area. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1956. Following his graduation, Doc began working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a switchman and brakeman. After Chicago Northwestern downsized he began working as a truck mechanic and driving semi. After driving truck for several years, he began managing the dispatch center for the trucking company, and retired from there in 2004. He decided to go back to work six months later, and drove truck for Aurora Co-op until 2015. On October 6, 1957 Don married Elsie Blumanhourst in Sumner. They lived in the Fremont area until 1983 when they moved to Central City. Doc was a member of the Evangelical Free Church where he held several offices during his lifetime. He was an extremely hardworking man, but he did find plenty of time to enjoy life, and always remained committed to his family and faith. His favorite Bible verse was Romans 5:1. He enjoyed a good western, woodworking, and playing table games with his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elsie of Central City; his children, Nancy Ristow of Lincoln, Dr. Brenda (Cliff Donn) Kirby of Morrisville, NY, Norma (Mike) Wagner of Grand Island, Randy (Penny) Dockweiler of Bellevue, and Dawn Dockweiler of Lincoln; two brothers, Dwain (Audrey) Dockweiler of Sumner and Darrel (Sheryl) Dockweiler of Eddyville; one sister-in-law, Doris Dockweiler of Hooper; and special friends of the family, Chad (Ronda) Jividen of Hordville and Jessica Zaruba of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Connie Dockweiler; his brother, Danny Dockweiler; sister-in-law, Linda Dockweiler; brother-in-law, Alfred Blumanhourst; and grandson, Jason Ristow.
