Bonnie (Viola Towne) Maietta, 88 of Burlington, VT passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on October 11, 2018. Born on August 17, 1930 in Burlington to Edward & Katherine (Surprise) Towne. She graduated from Burlington High School Class of 49. In 1955 she married Joseph D. Maietta. She worked as a telephone operator (1949-1953), an office manager of W.T. Grant Co. (1953-1959) and at JC Penny’s in the audit department. Her favorite job was stay at home mom. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Colchester, VT. Bonnie was a warm and loving person with a good sense of humor who could always bring life to any party. For many years Bonnie and Joe had great fun going bowling with friends and attending events at the Elks Club. She enjoyed walking with friends and neighbors on the bike path, playing cards, reading and going on trips with her close girlfriends. Later in life Bonnie and Joe enjoyed a few months a year in the warmer weather of Englewood, FL. Most of all Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family. Bonnie is survived by her husband Joseph Maietta, son Todd Maietta, daughter Tina Maietta Mendes and son-in-law Dean Mendes, daughter Roxanne Maietta and partner Marc Proteau. She also leaves behind her step granddaughter Shardae Mendes, cousin Genevieve Cowlishaw and her very close cousin Karen Tompkins, Kevin Moody and Daren Moody. Bonnie was also mother (mama) to many Sudanese boys whom she loved very much. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1063 Prim Road, Colchester VT on October 15th, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, 455 North Avenue, Burlington, VT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Andrew’s Church 1063 Prim Rd, Colchester, VT 05446 The family would like to thank the entire staff at the VNA for the wonderful care they provided for Bonnie. Also many thanks to her care givers Brenda, Gisele and Melody and to the many thoughtful friends and family who showed their love and support during this difficult time.
