Anna Bell Dickey, 75, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born in Lowell, Arkansas on May 24, 1943 to Samuel Peter Gabbard and Jewell Della Spirgen Gabbard and grew up in Rogers, Arkansas. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1961 and proudly served in the United States Air Force until 1966. Following her military service, she continued working in Civil Service in the same position. She married Michael Dickey on October 29, 1966 and they have three children. She spent several years at home with her children while they were small but returned to the outside workforce when the youngest was 10. Over the next few decades she worked around the legal field in several capacities including, legal transcriptionist, legal secretary and at the end of her career, a paralegal. She even spent a few years working for Walmart. No matter where she lived she was always active in her parish teaching religious education, leading small groups and participating in the music ministry. She was especially active in St. Vincent de Paul of Rogers, Arkansas where she served in many ministries including Give Glory to God Prayer Group, Sacred Heart Enthronement Team, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the choir and she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She remained active in her parish until her illness made it too difficult to serve. Anna loved her family and sacrificed for them. She was always there to listen and lend a helping hand. Her home was always open to her children’s friends as a safe haven and was a happy place to be. She loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing and woodworking and she tried to pass these skills on to her children. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, her helping hands and her sweet smile. She is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Jewell Gabbard, her sister Beulah Schneider and brother-in-law Robert Schneider, sister Barbara Wilson and brother-in-law James Wilson as well as a brother-in-law Wayne Ford, husband of Rosa Lee. Anna is survived by her husband of 52 years, Michael Dickey; three children, Donna Sullivan and husband John, Kay Farar and husband Marvin, Joe Dickey and wife JoAnn; 9 grandchildren: Kyle Dickey and wife Lauren, Shelby Holeman and husband Nathan, John Sullivan IV, Michael Farar and wife Courtney, Shannon Sullivan, Jared Dickey, Bryan Sullivan, James Farar and Kevin Farar; one great-grandchild, Brooklynn Dickey daughter of Kyle and Lauren. She is also survived by two sisters, Rosa Lee Ford, Betty L. Crabtree and husband Donald, and one brother Sherman Gabbard and wife Mary and her dog Rosco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers with Msgr. David LeSieur officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time. Burial will be at 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas with military honors provided.
