Weldon Carl Current, 82, of Piketon, Ohio died 8:05 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at S.O.M.C. Hospice, Portsmouth, Ohio. Carl was born March 12, 1936, in Pike County, Ohio, son of the late Cecil Current and Mary Ellen (Ross) Current. On June 5, 1962, Carl was united in marriage to Geneva (Dials) Current who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David Current and wife Antoinette of Circleville, Ohio and Jason Current and wife Carol of Cary, North Carolina, a daughter, Angela (Current) Hurst and husband Bruce of Piketon, Ohio, six grandchildren, Ashley (Current) Pettit and husband Denim, Marena Current, Margot Current, Julia Hurst, Jonathon Hurst, and Luke Current, two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Pettit and Kolton Pettit. Carl was preceded in death by his parents. Carl served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from Empire Detroit Steel prior to working as an administrator at the Pike County J.V.S. until retiring in 1999. Carl was a member of Piketon Jasper United Methodist Church and was active in the community. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Funeral Home in Piketon, Ohio, with Pastor Harley Roston, officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio.
