Wayne Paul Jacoby, 89, of Water Run Landing in Clarion, PA., died Wednesday, August 2, 2018, at the Clarion Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Oil City, PA on June 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Herbert Leonard and Charlotte Markley Jacoby. After the untimely death of his father, Wayne spent some years at the St. Joseph’s Orphanage in Erie, PA. At the age of 16 he came to live with his beloved Aunt Lucile Jacoby in Oil City where he finished his formal education. After graduating from the Oil City High School, he attended engraving school in Pittsburgh. He worked as a hand engraver for Dickenson-Oaks Jewelry Store in Oil City for 25 years. On October 5, 1950 Wayne married Phyllis Kathleen Rodgers at St. Stephens rectory in Oil City, she survives. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in October of this year. His work was well known throughout the area and can still be seen on display in many homes. The Jacoby’s resided on the south side of Oil City and in 1970 they installed a swimming pool in their backyard. Typical of their hospitality they graciously opened the pool for many of the neighboring children to enjoy during the 1970’s and 1980’s. When Wayne and Phyllis retired they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they made numerous lasting friendships and enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mr. Jacoby was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 40 years. Along with his loving wife, Phyllis they volunteered many hours in their Bible education ministry. In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by five children, Robert (Mary Ann) of Seneca PA, Ann (Byron Stebbins) of College Station Texas, John (Roberta) of Pheonix AZ, Leonard (Gloria) of Morgantown WVA, Andrew (Sherrie) of Pheonix AZ.; a special friend Julie Hughes, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Robert and Charles, and a son Michael P. Jacoby. A public Memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 144 S.
