Obituary for Stasia M. Sigda Stasia M. (Soltys) Sigda, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Renaissance Manor Nursing Center in Holyoke. Born November 30, 1927, daughter of the late Franciszek and Antonia (Jazab) Soltys, she was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1945. She continued her education at Holyoke Business School, where she later worked in the business and accounting fields for many years. Stasia was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke and more recently of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. She was a well-known golfer, winning many tournaments and accolades at area clubs and courses, along with her award winning skills as a bowler. Stasia was an accomplished seamstress and baker, and a true ambassador of her Polish heritage. Cooking and serving her Easter dinner was highly anticipated by both Stasia and her family. Stasia’s family would like to thank the staffs of Renaissance Manor and Hospice Life Care of Holyoke for the excellent care and compassion given to her. Stasia was predeceased in 2010 by her beloved husband, Frederick A. Sigda, and is survived by her loving niece and nephews, Sandra Parsons and husband Ken of Chicopee, Thomas Szatkowski and wife Mary Ann of Charlestown, Richard Szatkowski of Harwinton, CT, and David Soltys of Haverhill; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Genevieve Szatkowski, and brothers, Stanley Soltys and Frank Soltys, Jr. Funeral services for Stasia will be held Wednesday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 8:30-10:15AM.
