There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 officiated by Dharl Chintan at 11 AM at The Fox Funeral Home for Spencer Farkas, 17, who passed away on Wednesday, August 15. Spencer was born in Youngstown on January 28, 2001 to Steven Farkas and Carolyn Berlin. He would have been beginning his senior year at Mahoning Unlimited Classroom this week. He was an enthusiastic musician, writing and producing a myriad of songs and albums. He was also a past member of the Mock-Trial team at Struthers High School where he enjoyed debating and received the Outstanding Lawyer Award. In addition, he was an early member of Younify, a youth acting group associated with the Oakland Theatre. Spencer was well-read in all religions and practices, he took pride in being well informed. He loved animals passionately and they were drawn to him. He like to draw, travel, read, and write, but most of all, he was devoted to writing, singing and producing music. He could “spit” unique, quick-witted bars on the spot when inspired. His lyrics are intelligent and thought provoking. They reflected his deep passion for culture, politics, social injustice and music. “I can’t promise you peace. I can’t offer you safety.” Spencer will be deeply missed by his mother, Carolyn Berlin whom he made his home with and his father Steven B. (Nancy) Farkas, his grandparents, Susan and Jack Berlin and Eleanor Farkas, his aunts, Shelly Berlin and Lori (Sam) Papa, cousins, Dylan McGaffey, Alexis Bleggi, Ashley (Mike) and Milania Pozzuto, close family friends Z. Kermani, Dev Carlson and “brudder” Hank, as well as many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Stephen J. Farkas. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, August 20 at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman, and 10 to 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, an hour before the service.
