Shirley Barganski passed away peacefully Sunday, August 19th following a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Shirley was born in Chicago, IL the youngest, and last surviving, of Robert and Marie Stewart’s seven children. On September 6, 1956 she married Roger Barganski. Squirly and Rog departed Chicago for California sunshine on November 1, 1963 settling first in Santa Ana and then Orange. In addition to managing a busy household Shirley’s career pursuits included Anaheim Convention Center and a 20-year run at UPS where she established numerous lifelong friendships. Shirley and Roger enjoyed the company of numerous families from their Roberts Drive neighborhood and St. Barbara’s parish. Getaways to Las Vegas alone and with friends were some of their favorite ventures. Shirley and Roger raised four children—Thomas (deceased 2014), John (Denise), Kathleen Gross (David) and Kimberly Bogue (Mike). She took great pride in being part of the lives of her thirteen grandchildren (Cassandra (Peter) Bjork, Vanessa (Drew) Travis, Jessica Barganski, Sean (Bernadette) Barganski, Dustin Gross, Connor Gross, Emma Gross, Zachary Bogue, Nicole Bogue, Nicholas Bogue, Ally Bogue, John Bogue and Katie Bogue), and most recently, her four great grandchildren (Katherine and Megan Travis, Annie and Matthew Bjork). Shirley will forever be remembered by family and friends as a loving and caring soul who rejoiced in her long life of joys and challenges. Shirley’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 31st, 10:00 AM at St. Juliana Falconeri Catholic Church, 1316 North Acacia Avenue, Fullerton, CA.
