SERENE DAHLE WESALA November 20 1939 August 11 2018 (age 78)

Serene Wesala, 78, of Little Marais, died Saturday August 11, 2018 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Serene was born November 20, 1939 to Theodore and Solvig (Blix) Peterson in Littlefork, moved to Isabella as a child and to Little Marais in 1949. She graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1958, and was employed at Jacobson Hardware in Silver Bay for many years, where she was also deputy registrar. She later worked in purchasing for Kaiser Construction for several years, and served two terms as a Lake County Commissioner. Serene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed time with family and friends. Serene was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clayton Dahle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Lois Peterson and Robert and Florence Peterson. She is survived by her husband, Dale Wesala; daughter, Laurie (Doug) Shaffer; a son, Michael (Shanna) Dahle; grandchildren, Madeline, Taylor, Livia, Chayton, and Wyatt; a sister Anna (John) Myhr; and several nieces and nephews Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Friday August 17, 2018 at Baptism River Community Church in Finland.
