Mrs. Ruth A. (Strausner) Newcomer, 96, of Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro, PA passed away Thursday morning, August 23, 2018 in her home. Born February 10, 1922 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of late Grace V. (Stouffer) Strausner. She lived all of her life in the Waynesboro area, attending Quincy School. She and her late husband, Mr. Emory E. Newcomer were married March 12, 1938 in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to their home on Buchanan Trail East in 1950. Mr. Newcomer passed away November 9, 1998. Mrs. Newcomer was the Post Master of the Zullinger Post Office, Zullinger, PA for 25 years. She retired in 1982. She attended Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Mrs. Newcomer is survived by two children, Dorothy L. Newcomer and Robert L. Newcomer, both of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Beth Houck, Brian Newcomer, and Ronda Kleppinger; one great-grandchild, Lauren Green; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Manila Kreamer of Middletown, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother and husband she is preceded in death by her daughter, Judith A. Reed; and two brothers, Clarence Strausner and Gilson Straunser. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 27, 2018, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Mark Hosler officiating. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro. There will be no public viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Monday afternoon, in the funeral home. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Ralston and Stevenson families for their loving support over the years of both Mrs. Newcomer and her daughter, Dorothy.
