Roger Melvin Lueders, 76, of Sunset Home in Quincy, formerly of Camp Point, died at 11:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the home. Born March 21, 1942, in Quincy, Roger was a son of William “Bud” and Eunice Watson Lueders. Mr. Lueders was employed as a salesman for Banker’s Life and Casualty. He had been a volunteer with the Camp Point Fire Protection district and also a former member of the Camp Point Lions Club. Roger was a 1960 graduate of Camp Point Central High School. He grew up in Columbus area and was a member of the Columbus United Methodist Church and the 4-H Club. Roger enjoyed bowling, golf, and was best known as a fast pitch softball pitcher. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Survivors include his daughter, Cathy (William) Hummert, Quincy; two granddaughters, Riley and Sydney Hummert, Quincy; a brother, Kent (Betty) Lueders, Quincy; two sisters, Susan (Kent) Wilson, Sewell, NJ., and Julie Boylen, Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Craig Lueders; two brothers, Wayne and Daniel Lueders; and a nephew, Wyatt Wilson. Following cremation, graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point by Pastor Sheila Kelly. There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Home. Online condolences may be left at www.hamiltonfuneralhomes.net.
