Robert W. ‘Bob’ Oakes Jr. New Brighton Robert W. “Bob” Oakes Jr., 62, of New Brighton, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver after a valent fight with lung cancer. Born January 17, 1956, in Sewickley, the son of Robert W. (Shirley) Oakes Sr. of Conway and the late Mary (Zeranick) Oakes. Bob was retired carpenter and he was extremely passionate when it came to his hunting, fishing and especially his gardening. The only thing that could take his attention away from his hobbies were his grandchildren. He was Catholic by faith. Surviving in addition to his father are his wife of 28 years, Brenda (Harper) Halstead; two daughters Amy Jo (Tim) Whitby, Palm Beach Garden, Fla., and Amber (Joe Bosh) Oakes, Fair Oaks, Pa.; son, Randy (Sue) Dunlap, East Palestine, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Brian Dunlap, Kira Hanlon, Vanessa, Ariana, Calixta, Adaline and Quentin Bosh; one brother, David (Beth) Oakes, Hermitage, Pa.; one sister, Denise (Tom Crawford) Scriva, Economy Borough; and his live long friend, Carl Kimmerer. Friends will be received Monday from 3 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with Pastor Rick Thornhill officiating. Cremation will take place after the service.
