Obituary of Robert “Bob” Kemp Robert Irving Kemp was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 15, 1952. He was the only son of four children born to the union of the late Irving Kemp and the late Elaine E. (Grimm) Kemp. Bob attended Airport Community Schools graduating high school with the Class of 1970. He took employment with the Chrysler Corporation in 1972. On October 28, 1972, Bob married the love of his life, the former, Linda Jenkins at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Boston. Together the couple would share in the birth of two sons: Robert and Jeffrey. Over the years, Bob, continued his education attending various courses at Monroe County Community College to earn trade school certifications. He worked various jobs at Chrysler, and after thirty-five years he retired in 2007. A lifelong Monroe County resident, Robert attended the Willow United Methodist Church for many years. He shared his love of the outdoors and hunting with his boys. Many special memories were made deer hunting near Twining, Michigan. Bob also had a passion for classic cars, including his 1963 Ford Fairlane, and antique John Deere tractors. He taught his young men how to fix things themselves and to not be afraid to get their hands dirty. Bob was funny, outgoing, and had a big, warm, generous heart. He loved his wife, children, and of course his four beloved grandchildren. Robert Irving Kemp, age 65, of Carleton passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. His passing was preceded by his parents. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of nearly forty-six years: Linda Kemp of Carleton; two sons: Robert L. (Jamie) Kemp of South Rockwood and Jeffery T. (Dawn) Kemp of Carleton; four grandchildren: Connor Kemp, Tyler Kemp, Jenna Kemp, and Madison Kemp; and three sisters. No public services are planned. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with his arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Willow United Methodist Church.
