Obituary for Richard F. McGuire Richard “Dick” F. McGuire, 84, of Radisson, Baldwinsville, NY, entered into eternal rest on July 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Dick was raised and educated in Syracuse as the youngest child of Robert and Veronica (Boyle) McGuire and younger brother to Helen Marie (McGuire) Altier and James McGuire. Dick graduated from Syracuse Central High School in 1952 and Syracuse University in 1956. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from 1956-58, Dick started teaching in Liverpool at Buckley Road Elementary in 1958, continuing at Craven Crawford Elementary. In 1961, then on to Elmcrest Elementary as an Instructional Consultant. He began his career as an Elementary School Principal at Elm Street Elementary in Phoenix, NY, retiring in 1996. Dick met his wife of 56 years, Margery (Nickels), at Crawford Elementary; they married in 1962. Dick was a devoted Dad to his daughter, Lisa (Steve) Copses of Charleston, SC, and son, Michael McGuire of Baldwinsville. Retirement found him as a seasonal “snowbird” to Citrus Hills, Hernando, Florida for 14 years then to St. Augustine, Florida and Folly Beach, Charleston, SC. He enjoyed golfing at Beaver Meadows Golf Club, and playing in the Senior Softball League, attending Syracuse JASS events and following SU football and basketball. Relatives and friends are invited to a musical remembrance to be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 210 Hazel St., Liverpool at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018. No other visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Dick’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the service.
