OBITUARY Richard Edwin Leard October 9, 1931 – August 28, 2018 Richard Edwin Leard, 86, of Brunswick departed this life Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Military Honors. Born September 9, 1931 in Nashua, New Hampshire to the late Frank and Gertrude Leard, he was a US Navy Veteran serving in Korea. After returning to civilian life he met his wife to be Ruby at Cody’s Restaurant in Brunswick. Mr. Leard became a pipe fitter with Brunswick Pulp and Paper and he and Ruby raised their family here. Mr. Leard was a member of The Brunswick Shrine Club, VFW Post 2588, and American Legion Post 0009. He was also a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Glynn County for 60 years. He was an avid golfer and supporter of The Brunswick Shrine Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby T. Leard, and a son, Donald Patrick Leard. Survivors include a daughter, Donna P Maks of Augusta, four grandsons, Stephen Maks and wife Stephanie, Joseph Maks and wife Lucy, Anthony Maks, and Jake Maks, six grandchildren, and a brother, Frank Leard, Jr. of Fl. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1PM until the funeral hour at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
