RICHARD C. RUDE, 85, of Springfield, passed away at Wooded Glen on Saturday morning, August 4, 2018. He was born in Springfield on January 14, 1933, the son of the late Harold J. and H. Viola (Martin) Rude. Richard was a 1951 graduate of Springfield High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the time of the Korean War. He retired as a supervising systems analyst for NAVSEA and previously for the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. overseeing guaranteed… Read More » student loans. Richard also held real estate licenses in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. He is survived by his dear friend, William B. Meloy; brother, Robert (Linda) Rude of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Rude, Lori (John) Rude-Huffman, Heidi (John) Readler, and Bradley Burns; and great nieces and nephews, Korynn, Mason, Kelsie, Karsyn, and A.J. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, H. Viola and George Mayhew; two half-sisters; and two half-brothers. Richard’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Steven Fewell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
