Obituary for Rev. Melvin Knight Rev. Melvin Knight, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Born in Virginia Beach, VA on May 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert Knight and Mildred Bray. A U.S. Army veteran, Rev. Knight served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict from 1962 – 1976. He later worked at the Scotland School for Veteran’s Children as the Director of Student Affairs for 17 years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and DAV in Camp Hill, where he served as Chaplain. Rev. Knight enjoyed going out for drives, football, golf, basketball, reading, and watching the news. Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Stella Louise Harding Knight, whom he married December 29, 1963; five children, Melvena Knight of Chambersburg, PA, Cynthia Knight of Fayetteville, PA, James Knight of Chambersburg, PA, John Knight (wife Jacque) of Chambersburg, Pa, and Esther Knight of Maricopa, AZ; seven grandchildren; and four great – grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Rodney Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
