OBITUARY Raymond Vance Pinnick July 22, 1933 – July 30, 2018 Raymond (Ray) Pinnick, 85, passed away in the home surrounded by family on July 30, in Lawrence, KS. Graveside inurnment and military honors 10:00am Saturday August 11, 2018 White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will be held on August 11, 2018 at 11:30am at St. James Lutheran Church, 1104 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO. Ray was born in Willard, MO to Ira V. Pinnick and Mary Katheryne (Shellhammer) on July 22, 1933. He grew up in Milan, MO and graduated from Milan High School in 1951. On June 8, 1968, Ray married Beverly Bond at St. James Lutheran Church. Ray graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1962. For 31 years, Ray worked as an Industrial Engineer with Transworld Airlines (TWA). He is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Navy as a First-Class Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman from 1952 to 1957. If you could not find Ray, an avid gardener and member of the Clay County Rose Society, working in his gardens, you might find him helping the “TLC” fix-it group at St. James or buddying around with his two best friends Charlie Doan and Louis Riemensnider. He loved music and later in life learned to play the organ. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Bond), two brothers George Pinnick and Marvin Pinnick, daughter-in-law Cindy Pinnick and grandson Dustin Dooley. He is survived by his children, Jerry Pinnick, Mike (Juli) Pinnick and Amy (Steve) Rockers Lawrence, KS; siblings Loren Pinnick, Jo (Bob) Endicott and Jane High; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren. Honorary-pallbearers will be Travis Pinnick, Kara Pinnick, Erica Pinnick and Alex Pinnick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or Salvation Army.
