Obituary for Ralph Friedel Jr. RALPH WILLIAM FRIEDEL, JR. August 25, 1934 – August 13, 2018 Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY Ralph W. Friedel, Jr. of Cornwall on Hudson, NY passed away peacefully Monday, August 13, 2018. He was born on August 25, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Ralph W. and Annette Gertson Friedel. After a career as a professional photographer in Ohio, Ralph attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and enjoyed a second career as a chef. Graced with a powerful and melodic tenor voice, he relished many opportunities to perform in amateur theatre productions as a young man. His musical talent extended to playing the piano and the bass. Ralph is survived by his loving partner of thirty-five years, Ann R. Garti; his adored daughters, Pamela Smith and Julie Hocevar; his grandchildren James and Julie; great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Frank and Olivia; his sister Kay Clemens (William) and several Clemens and Friedel nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James Friedel and sister in law Mary Friedel. Ralph is further survived by Michael, Thomas, Brittany, Caroline and Griffin Garti who called him Grandpa. At Ralph’s request, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, habitatnewburgh.org or a charity of one’s choice.
