SUTTON – Nancy E. (Carlson) Corey, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 28th in St. Vincent’s Hospital after being stricken ill. Nancy’s husband, Norris H. Corey passed away in 2006. She leaves four children, Vicki J. Portais and her husband, Alan of Millbury, Jeffrey L. Corey of Jacksonville, FL, Diane C. Millard and her husband, Bruce of Barrington, RI and Robert N. Corey and his wife, Joanne of Estes Park, CO; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Corey and Robert Millard, Megan and Ryan Corey and Scott Corey and his wife, Laura Jay, and Shanna Miceli and her husband, James; one great granddaughter, Alice Mae; a brother, Robert A. Carlson of NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Vera Jo Hall. Nancy worked many years as a school secretary in the Sutton School System. She volunteered with the Camp Fire Girls and the Boy Scouts of America. Nancy was also active in the First Congregational Church of Sutton and in her younger years she was involved with the Sutton Community Players Club. She loved everything about Christmas and through the years took great pleasure in decorating her home with her beloved Christmas collections. She was New England College’s number one soccer fan, and a fan of the Red Sox in good seasons and bad; loved gardening, baking, sewing, reading, and doing cross word puzzles. Nancy loved to travel and enjoyed trips to many countries with her husband Norris and then later, international travel accompanied by her children. She especially looked forward to her extended vacations to visit family in Colorado. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Family and friends will honor and remember Nancy’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, September 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5th at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Sutton, 307 Boston Road in Sutton. Burial will follow at West Sutton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Fellowship of Sutton c/o First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Road, Sutton, MA 01590.
