Obituary for Monnie Gortney Talley Frankfort – Monnie Gortney Talley, age 81, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in Lexington. Services will be held at First Christian Church on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. John Opsata officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mrs. Talley was born in Harrodsburg on September 21, 1936, to the late Oscar Evans and Bessie Marshall Gortney. She was united in marriage to her loving husband of 61 years, Brooks Hayman Talley. She retired from Frankfort Regional Medical Center after many years serving the community as a nurse. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and gardening. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Dickerson, Marty Robinson, and Mary Helen Gortney. Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, David Talley, Mike Talley, Brian Talley, and Pat Talley (Patty); siblings, William Gortney and Margaret Tapp; grandchildren, David Lee Talley (Kate); Eric Talley, Morgan Bullock, Brooke Talley, Chris Talley, Viviana Cruz, Kindall Talley, Maria Cruz, Brittany Talley and Douglas Talley; and great grandchildren, Brandon, Adam, and Emerald Talley. She was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be David Talley, Mike Talley, Pat Talley, David Lee Talley, Eric Talley, and Chris Talley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ragan Phillips, Douglas Talley, Brandon Talley, and Adam Talley. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Christian Memorial Fund, 316 Ann Street, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
